Specific question research
Each of you has a specific question that you are researching. Write a brief summary of your findings as a comment on this post. Make sure you cite your sources and mention anything of relevance such as the date of the webiste or any posible bias in the information.
during class we are making a play about a global issue. the topics we chose together were: street children, child abuse, rape, and drugs. i did some research about the subtopic: what are the street childens' life like, day-to-day? Heres the information!
The situation: *pourposfully or not, people kill a thousand or so street children every year. *Hunger, unemployment, homelessness and lack of schooling *The weakest suffer first - and the weak are the children *many children have to work, it does not matter if they have parents
Types of jobs available. *wipe car windscreens *scavage *beg *prostitut *pick pockets. *sell flowers/newspapers *shine shoes *park cars
voice of the children: *"There are some people who have everything. I have nothing. I steal because when I ask, they give me nothing" *"I had to be tougher and meaner than anyone else, or befriend someone who was meaner"
What is effect of different types of drugs? I did some research on question “What is effect of different types of drugs?” I found out that different drugs have different effect. Here are some of them: Cocaine-It gives a feeling to what has been described as a euphoric sense of happiness and increased energy. It is most often used recreationally for this effect. Because of the way it affects the mesolimbic reward pathway, cocaine is addictive. Cannabis, also known as Marihuana or ganja-it has psychoactive and physiological affect when consumed by smoking or ingestion. The minimum amount of it required to have a psychoactive effect is about 10 micrograms per kilogram of body weight. Alcohol(Ethanol)- small doses generally produce euphoria and relaxation; people experiencing these symptoms tend to become talkative and less inhibited, and may exhibit poor judgement. At higher doses ethanol produces at progressively higher dosages, impaired sensory and motor function, slowed cognition, stupefaction, unconsciousness, and death. Cyanoacrylate (superglue)- gives off vapor which is irritating to eyes, mucous membranes and respiratory system. On rare occasions inhalation may cause asthma. Cyanoacrylate might kill a person. Heroin-used as a recreational drug for the intense euphoria it induces. Some users mix heroin with cocaine in a "speedball" or "snowball" that usually is injected intravenously, smoked, or dissolved in water and then snorted, producing a more intense. It is more dangerous. I used wikiipedia.org to find information about different types of drugs and their effect.
i was finding out the reasons why street children ran away from their homes, or why they got kicked out of their homes. i found that many of the kids havnt actually run away or been abandoned, they are with their families but they have to work on the streets 2 help their family earn money. sometimes they even pay their way through school with the money they get. there is sometimes violence in the house, usually the father, and this is somtimes the reason that the children have run away. meaning that the children are exploited, abused, or rejected. this happens in poor aswel as rich parts of the world. these are the true street children
i have been researching the history of recreational drugs for the century. i have found out that in the beginning of the century the drugs that are used today for recreational purposes are usually the drugs that were used for medical reasons around 90-100 years ago. this tells us that people are exploring new ways all the time to get "high" and have a great time with friends but not understand that there is also a sad side to drugs as well as a positive side. the thing that people must understand about drugs is that once u try it, u will most likely be hooked on it, u will have a great experience and then will say to urself "god that was a great time i had,i think i will do it again" and before u know it, ur another fiend sleeping outside ur dealers house, waiting for him to get home to get another hit.
