Street Children and Drugs
What drugs do street children take?
- This was the website that used to find out what drugs street children take. I found out that drugs are placed into categories. Stimulants are types of drugs that give a short, energetic effect. These are just recreational drugs. Drugs such as Ecstasy and Crack Cocaine are stimulants.
- Depressents are drugs that give a relaxing and sensational feeling, as well as reducing the intensity of pain and of emotions such as fear, anger or anxiety. Examples are Morphine.

M3A 2007-08 Entry 1
Which issue did you find the most interesting to explore and why?
What will you find interesting about the issues we have chosen as a class?
Tell me two facts you have dioscovered about our issues and tell me where you got those facts from.
Tell me about a useful website for research- what is good about it?
What do you hope to achieve in this unit of study?
We have to create a play which is culturally transferrable - give me one way we might achieve this.
The reason we did this exercise was because we needed to build trust in each other for future projects that we would do in drama. This exercise is very important because we basically put our eyes in theirs and trust them to guide us if we were blind.
We also did a trust exercise in which we put trusted 2 people to catch us when we fall which I thought worked quite well except the only difficulty was that it was quite hard to fall right on command. But we had to fall like a tree so it would be easier to fall and catch. I trusted the people in my group but they sometimes were caught off guard and they once didn’t catch me but they did try to but I slightly touched to floor.
The reason we did these trust exercises were because if we were ever to do such a thing a project we could trust the people to catch us.

For me the best for developing the plays works the script part. I think when you just start the play you don’t really make sense. For example in our group we just started, and people were laughing in parts where you should be angry or saying nice stuff in a sad part. I think it just works out better while writing it out first. When you write the script you get to think more and decided what you will say next, that way you don’t have to think of things you are going to say. I remember we started just saying the words out, and Samir and I have realized that it just doesn’t work. So we went to SRA and started working there. We as a group came up with the things of what each person must say and when. When we were practicing it helped us a lot. That’s because we already knew what we were doing and we weren’t all messed up. Everyone had their line to read and it said what we were meant to do.
My monologue.
I think monologues are pretty useful. For people who can not speak in front of audience, this is a chance for them to learn how to. I will give an example from mine. My monologue was going pretty well. When I started practicing I kept on laughing the whole time. I tried it like 4 times in front of my friends, and I got much better with all that. When I had to perform it I was not as nervous as I thought I would be. Also monologues help us to express ourselves. When we tell a story we can think of many things to say with all the emotions.

So far the global warming group has reasearched the issue. As many know , it will apparently bring the appocolypse. Floods , heat waves , penguin casulities, everything. We looked at all the causes and affects of global warming.
Causes
- Use of gases
- Wasting energy
- More population
- Ignorance
Effects
- Flooding
- Extincition of Polar animals
- Droughts
- Loss of nautral resources
From this whe had all the infromtaion we would need in our performance. We moved onto writng the script. After much discussion we ended up with a Charles Dickens Christmas Carol esque story. Whe decide that we would start out in the future with all the affects of global warming visible, and then whe would go into the past and see the cause. At the end of course whe would have the hallmark ending where the characters realise its human ignorance that will bring their destruction , blah , blah , blah.
So far whe have acomplished our script. Whe have written the first five scenes and have a conflict and a solution. Every thing a growing play needs. We have also rehearshed it several times but we need to get a serious one going
Kmans Monolouge Response
My perfomramnce was good. I think i had a strong delivery and didnt give anything away with my emotions or facial expression. I already talked about my personal expeirence in my evaluation. My monolouge was more about a community than an individual and i proably could have added some deeper reflection or show the affects better if i had gone deeper into evaluation.

2. For me i think the best combination so far is scripted improvisation. No dialuoge is written or actions , but it states what happens in the scene and from there what it should convey to the audience. From here the actors or actresses can use their own skills and talents to their advantage instead of using what the scripts require.

When it comes to the different ways of developing the play, i found scripting the easiest. This way we know what is going on, and it is much more organised. when you improvise at first, then write the script it is not as organised and you often forget ideas. In my point of view, the best way is to script, and then perform it using the scripts. As you perform you will realize the mistakes and additions to the play, or things you need to change, replace, and delete.

Reflection
2. I probably like improvisation best because you get to explore your skills in drama and toy with your knowledge. To be able to go on and on about one topic and act as casual and in character as possible is a talent. I like to express these feelings and act it out rather than writing it up. Video recording is something I also like to do in some cases because you can check over your work and see how you can perfect it. Though, everything you do is watched and too expectant. You act a certain way around a camera and what most people want to see is the true acting. Word processing I find kind of useless other than just writing up the script. Even then, I just like to memorize it in my head not by reading it and then memorizing.

Blue Eyed Blonde's posts
Today, all of us went into the Stundent Research Area and looked up about
global warming, women's rights, rascism, war, child labour, rape and about
poverty. Mrs. Tickle assigned many people to look up one thing at a time so
we would understand. Overall, i thought this was very useful and
interesting.

2. I think the best way for our goup, is to script it first, and then practice it. I think this is easier because it didn't really work out improvising and when you perform after you scipt you can notice any mistakes you made and then change it.

2] i like to improve then do word but videos can be funny
so i don't like writing bite me
Catch up with your reflection!

Monologue/Child Rights Performance
We are now doing child rights performances. The subject we chose for our group is really interesting. Its date rape and self mutilation. I feel that many teenage girls go through a stage where they feel that they need to be older, and in our performance we show how a girl can go through that. It's always hard to find what is realistic and what isnt. If she would actually cut herself over fake love for example. In the end its what we think we would do and what would we do in her place. After all, we are just kids.

This week in drama we began thinking about the play that we will be writing. We decided to do two separate stories going on at once and they link in the end. The beginning of it is a flashback. One of the stories is about date rape. The other is about a girl who is being forced into a marriage that she doesn't want and the man that she really loves is killed by her family. They are both depressing things to make a play about, but it is real and important. I think that it will get to be really interesting the further we get.

Homework Feb 9th

You are currently working on monologues. Explain why you think monologues might be useful if used within a longer play featuring more characters. You might also like to talk about your own monologue and how your research is going for it.

If there was a 9/11 conspiracy, and what the college students with no girlfriends had come up with is true, and the president killed hundreds just for a good reason to go to war in Iraq, then 5 or 6 more college kids is no biggie. The government would have taken them, killed them and destroyed their followers as well as all of the articles that stated these conspiracies. THERE IS NO CONSPIRACY, IT WAS REALLY AN ATTACK BY SUICIDAL PEOPLE THAT (apparrently) REALLY HATED THE USA.
All hail NOT George Bush!!!!

1. I don't think our group had any difficulties with the performance except for maybe getting Spencer to play his part.
2. Our first part of the play was the best so i guess i would keep that. (It was about child labour).

because of their race, color or ethnicity. Racism can be directed against any
race, color or ethnicity." There are less and less racist people in the world today but it is still a Global Issue. The class has been divided into two different groups and i am now in the group focusing on racism.

For this lesson I reashearched what i could about global warming and had some i deas for the drama plays
- Polar Bears on the Ice Bergs complaining
- People using aersol and big diesel cars while others are energy safe
- A christmas carol style story but with global warming
- Bush in the white house with a bunch of penguins(half joking)
Overall i think that we should include some humor with the seriousness.

A Modest Proposal

An interesting idea..
This new initiative is aimed at allowing people to interact with someone who is different from them, someone whom they may otherwise avoid or make unfounded assumptions about. By creating easy-access to different people, all library members will have the opportunity to discover their similarities and ask questions they may never have wanted to pose to a stranger on the street. This includes people with different religious views, lifestyle choices, sexual orientations, etc.
Good idea, right? Maybe a bit strange or unconventional, but nonetheless, a grand idea.
