Evaluation
Our performance was really amazing, especially compared to what we were like, even just two lessons before the day. Everyone thought that we would simply do an ok job, but we proved ourselves wrong. It was a really tough assignment, especially the scripting. This was the hardest part of the entire proect for me, because you didn't want the script to be cheesy, and you had to think alot about what you wrote to make it seem even somewhat realistic. At first i sort of doubted that certain scenarios would work in the play, but in the end they turned out to be some of the highlights. My favorite part of making this play, was probably the performance, because i got to see all of our hard work come together in such a satisfying way. When our class first started to construct this piece of drama, we all goofed around alot, and didn't take very seriously. But as we came nearer to the performance, i think we all got it together. I felt like it was a really good experiance for me to play the character that i did, because it really opened my eyes to what alot of people around the world have to live through every day, and it got me thinking alot about i would do if i were in thier shoes, which maybe translated a bit over into my performace. All in all, i think that our class really worked hard to get were we got, and that we put out a very useful, informative, and thought-provoking piece of drama.

WOW
Thats all i really have to say about our play... by luck of some sort and pure genius we pulled it together. During the time we rehearsed we mucked about and goofed off and simply- didn't do anything. I had told my mother that were doing the play but I'll tell her on Tuesday if shes allowed to come... on Tuesday i told her that if she absolutely has too she could but i don't recommend it, so she didn't come. Then when we did fantastically. As my classmates have said, we did miss out quite a few parts of the play. Still, i think that we sent the messages we tried to send. The audience realized the lacking conditions of street children, and a few different organizations that help such children. I think that we sent out a message that we didn't try to send, how cruel adults can be. 3 of the 5 scenes had nasty adults. the messages along with our sound scape(s) created a very touching and emotional piece of theater.
If we were to do it again (for the p8's) then i could make some suggestions for what me might like to change. firs and for most we should study our lines some more, and maybe even practice once more. secondly i think that particular figures should have particular clothing items to signify this. for example the head chief in the soldier scene could have some sort of army hat, and the step mother could have a fancy scarf. thirdly we could have used some more props such as newspapers, toys, money etc. In my opinion these small details could increase the impact of our performance.
It was so much fun scripting, improvising and acting. i would be thrilled to recreate the play for anyone willing to watch us.
Final Performance
Our final performance in front of an audience was something of luck and pulled together skill and concentration. i think the audience made us perform better and concentrate more on what we were doing because we had to do it this time. i found it easier to perform in front of an audience because the people around me were more concentrated and i concentrated more on the performance that we were doing instead of fooling around.
The messages that we were trying to show about street children, i think we showed the audience well. how their lives are and how sad and miserable it would be to be a street child. the audience in the feedback seemed to get the points that we were showing and they even saw the fact that it was meant to be international and that we could give it to another school and they could also perform it.
Next time we could do it better. if instead of fooling around in class we actually did some work, the finished product would have come out better. we could have also maybe worked on the drug scene as a class and then maybe it would have worked as well. we could have also made more change to our performance to make it all better.
I think that our performance was good and the audience liked it. next time we could do more because there is a lot we could add onto, and maybe act out better. now we know that what we have is good, but we could make it better.

Andra's Evaluation
Our performance turned out to be quite a success. Everyone performed with great enthusiasm and dedication. Our class was focused, concentrated on their lines and their performance. Our play went through smoothly but more importantly, our play captured the audiences and got their attention. The audience was also able to understand what was going on throughout the scenes and they gave positive feedback on our performance.
I was shocked to see that we were able to run through the whole play without anyone laughing or messing up. The reason I say this is because when we were given the chance to practice our parts and scenes, most of the groups including mine, did not use our time efficiently and wisely. We could not concentrate and thoroughly run through our script. Because of this I improvised many of my lines but I still stuck to the structure of my script. I believe if our group would have used our time more efficiently we would have improved our performance and we would have been a lot more prepared.
However our group, the child soldier group, did extremely well in the end with what we had. The script included so much action, energy and drama. There was a lot of chaos in the script, soldiers were attacking villages and kidnapping children to fight as soldiers themselves. We were trying to show the violence, chaos, and misery of our issue through the script. This action really got the audience’s attention during the beginning of the play.
Drama has been an extremely enjoyable lesson for me this term. One reason for this is because I felt that I have improved during drama this year. I feel a lot more confident about acting then I did before. I learnt many new skills and techniques. During our monologues, I learnt how to improvise and this became useful during our play. We were also given the chance of creating our own scripts and play. We were given the freedom of using our imagination and creativity and we were able to show it to our audiences in our play.

On the Thursday before the holidays we performed our play about global issues to the M3B class, parents and teachers. I think that this performace was a very good achievment and was twice as good as any rehearsal we had done. Throughout the play we remained focused and at no point did the class come to a point where they had forgotten their lines or were not able to perform. Everyone put a lot of emotion into their performance and it had a very positive impact on the audience. One thing i think that we could have improved is to have some simple costumes and props. I think that costumes would define certain characters a lot better and make it a lot easier for the audience to understand the background and storyline of the people involved. I think that one of the best sections of our play was the beginning and end of the play. This set the tone for the rest of the play and created a good atmsphere, uniterupted by anyone in the cast or audience. The repitition of the beginning of the play at the end left the audience with that atmosphere. I think that because our play was well focused as well as serious it stopped the audience from laughing at bits which some people might have considered funny. I think the only mistake throughout the whole play was when we confused the languages at the end, but i don't think it was noticeable. I think all-in-all we performed a very smooth piece of theatre which had a positive impact on the audience.

I must say that our preformance was nothing short of a miracle and amazing concentration. The preformance seemed to the audience that we had been practicing with full dedication but in the fact we had never really done any proper practicing of the play, all together we ran through the entire child soldier's scene as a practice twice with the child soldier's group but i think that because we were put under pressure we really pulled through. this happened many times with our class.
I especially liked the fact that the sound scape worked very well because me along with several other people thought that the people in the audience would not understand the intentions of the sounds, but to my surprise that is what they seemed to like the most.
The child soldier's group worked well in the preformance but the production and rehearsal was dreadful, it was plagued with problems from important figures in productions being unable to come to meetings along with very little enthusiasm but after practicing as a class as a whole we seemed to completely forget everything and stopped laughing and did it surprisingly well.
I think the script was especially good, i loved the fact that it included all sorts of topics that we had discussed to include, but some things were cut out due to shortage of time as well not having the props to convey it to make the audience understand what was going on, one such thing was music playing during the drug scene to symbolize his hullucinations as well a 3 scenes that were cut out completely even though it was in the final script one was when the UN and NATO forces agreed to do something about the growing problem with child soldiers and another scene skipped was when the child soldiers are killing an entire village and the horror that the main character is suppose to convey as he is shooting innocent people and sad horrific music was suppose to play along with this. another scene that was skipped was the one on one confrontation between the general and the main character with him being premoted to captain of the other child soldiers.
Drama was something i enjoyed this term and something that i will miss since i will never do it again because i had chosen Visual Art for m4 and m5 but if there is no more room in Visual Art i had chosen Drama to do because that is my second favorite Arts class. one thing that i especially enjoy about drama is the freedom. we have the ability to make anything with the topic given and have freedom get to a final piece in whatever way we need to which was great because that let us experiment with different things and discuss and act what would work better and worse. Something that i especially helped with overall confidence in any situation is the monologue preformance that made us preform in front of an audience with no one else on stage and with just us preforming, it also helped me with improvisational skills because my ENTIRE monologue was improvised but i think it turned out very well with no hitches. Overall i would be glad to be able to do drama next year but sadly i can not.

Evaluation...
I think the play went really well. A lot better than i think any of us expected. I thought some people would end up laughing but no one did, which made the play a lot more powerful. I think the start of the play and the end of the play was really powerful, i think that really captured the audiences attention, the sound scape also worked really well and made the part a lot more powerful.
I think we took a lot of time to rehearse but it was all worth it. The final product was really well, but i think that if we had less time too rehearse the play it would not have come out that well. When we were rehearsing the whole play as a class we were always messing up and we were always being told to stop laughing. That is why i was very surprised in the end when none of us laughed.
The child soldier part was the one i was in. We were the first group to perform. I think it went really well. I think we captured the audiences attention at the start because the start was very powerful and there was a lot going on. It was the scene were the lady got shot on the street and everyone is scared watching her...this showed a real life situation. I was only in a short part of my play because i missed a lot of rehearsal time because i was away on sports trips, but i think i caught up pretty well. Writing the script for the play was a lot easier than putting it together and acting it. The script was easier because we all had a rough idea of what we wanted to include in the play because we all got together and discussed it. Trying to perform it was a lot harder because we had a lot of people in our play and it was hard to keep everyone focused but in the end we managed it.
I really enjoyed drama this term because the whole class got to work together and make their own play where we got to put in our own ideas. I think we were also really happy with the final product and all the work we did for it was worth it in the end. I think i got better in drama this term compared to our first lesson cause i couldn't stand in front of anyone and perform i just found it really hard. And honestly i don't think i have ever felt that scared before acting, in front of people. But i feel like i could do it now. I think the performance where we had to perform a monologue really helped me. I think it helped a lot of us for the global issues play as well, and made it easier to perform because we had more confidence.

Evaluation of Final Performance
The audience's reaction at the end was the most surprising part of the whole project. The audience was scared and saddened. I didn't realize that the play was emotional, because almost everytime we rehearsed the play, we were told to "STOP LAUGHING". A few unscripted changes were made during the actual performance, but it was unbeknownst to the audience. Our audience was composed of the M3B class and a few parents of the actors and actresses.
My castmates were really good. All of us made the performance "real" and it's true that the best performers are the ones that are really exagerrated in character. My favorite part of the play is the introduction and the end, because those are the most powerful sections of the play.
My performance satisfied me, but there is always room for improvement. Especially expression, in my case. My two roles were: a murdered villager and an abusive mother to a disabled child. I could have been more aggressive in my second role, but overall I am okay with how it turned out. Next time, I will exagerrate my reactions and facial expressions more to really be in character.

the real orphan runnaway
orphan runaway
(Matthew, Yusif and Claudia sitting on chairs, others sitting on the floor)
Matthew: Oh I wish my parents came and picked me up.
Child 2: Me too!
Claudia: We all want our folks back, and maybe someday, they will….
Yusif: Claudia, stop telling the littl’uns (points to kids on floor) fairy tales ok! It’s no use! We don’t have any family! This is a dump, where people drop of children they don’t want.
Yusif approaches the group of kids.
Matthew: We’ve been friends for a long time now but you’re about to cross the line with me. (Gets up) You’ve never been THIS jumpy before! And I’m only a year younger than you. I’m tired of you treating me like a kid, I can take care of myself (the two are now facing each other) like I did for the 9 years before I met you.
Child 1: Shhhhhhhh…Don’t fight, it reminds me off…
Yusif interrupts saying…
Yusif: Ok, ok! Fine… I’m sorry!
Claudia: (Children pout/cry) look what you’ve done… you’ve upset the kids! You’d better help me keep them quiet!
Matthew: here, I’ll play to! Claudia
Claudia: Thanks! Yusif… come over here!
(Play dolls/cars)
Margalit: (scream from off stage) get down here. NOW!
Yusif: I wonder what “The Witch” wants now?!
Matthew: I suppose we should go- it’ll be mad if we don’t.
Claudia: it’s just about time for lunch time … still, I doubt the foods gonna be any better today then it has been for the past 10 years that I’ve been here!
Matthew: come on everyone… (Sarcastic) lets get some healthy food!
The children exit stage….
Rearrange chairs
The children enter stage later…
Matthew is sits at the head of the table
Claudia: Are you sure you wanna sit THERE?
Margalit walks in furious about this and then she smashes his face into the table.
Margalit: Get to your seat NOW!
Matthew: But nobody is sitting here, so I wanted to.
Margalit: no means NO! Only important people get to sit at the head of the table, and you are NOT important any one!
She says this and drags Matthew across the table to his chair
Margalit: (Quieter but loud) that’s why you’re here…
Child 1: (whispers) that’s gotta hurt!
Child 3: Shhhhhhh!
Margalit: Here’s your (pauses)…food. Placing the breakfast in the bowls that are in front of the children
Yusif: I don’t want to eat this, it looks disgusting pushes the bowl away from him
Matthew, Child 2: I don’t want to eat it either! Matthew pushes his bowl in front of him
Margalit: (Angry) children if you don’t eat your food the will be no more until dinner time
Yusif: (stubborn) I don’t care
Yusif throws the bowl of food at Margalit
Margalit: That was a very, very silly move, now you have to do the dishes, and you get no food even if you wanted it. (Picks up the bow)l and places it on the table with an angry expression. All right brats…if you aren’t gonna eat the food then get outa my way!
Margalit points at yusif. You, stay here!
Matthew: Come on guys let’s go.
Child 2: aww (All children but Yusif exit the stage on the left)
Margalit: your one of the elder children here, so the little ones look up to you. I can’t have you disrespecting me in front of them. Listen to me! I can’t have you influencing them to be bad. YUSIF!
Margalit slaps yusif making him fall down.
Freeze… then rearrange chairs
Matthew in their sleeping room, Yusif walks in, limping
Yusif: Man I swear this room gets smaller every time we come back here!
Matthew: tell me about it!
Yusif: You know what? I wanna go back to the times when I was a kid and didn’t understand any thing…
Matthew laughs
Matthew: yeah, like why my folks never came back from vacation… those were the good days huh. Didn’t seem like it then though…
Yusif: one day…I’m gonna run away! Just, don’t tell anyone. Keep it in your head K? ‘Cause when I do I want you to, you know how a pilot has his right hand man?
Matthew: yeah…
Yusif: well, when I run away… I want you to be my right hand man…
Matthew: Defiantly! I’ll come with you!
Claudia and Child 1 enter the room and sits down with Yusif and Matthew
Yusif: hi with a sigh
Claudia: Hey, what you guys talking about?
Child 1: how terrible this dump is?!
Matthew: yup!
Yusif: Can’t believe I ended up here.
Child 1: I know…
Claudia: but what can we do, it isn’t like we can just leave…
Freeze

Yusif: get up, hurry we have to keep on going!
Matthew: yeah I know! I need to tie my shoe lace… (Gets up and then catches his breath)
Yusif: (looks around) I think we lost her! I can’t believe it! We really ran away!
Matthew: we did? That’s amazing!
Yusif: as long as we keep a lookout we might just get lucky, and stay away from there!
Matthew: All right then. How ‘bout we take shifts sleeping?
Yusif: that’s a good idea, you sleep first- you’re younger. I’ll wake you up later.
Matthew: sounds good to me… (Yawn)
Yusif: Just one more thing-
Matthew: yeah?
Yusif: If I don’t wake you up, or you don’t find me when you wake up… because they caught me… I want you to know that I wont tell on you and you’re safe out here, just stay away from cops and drugs… and be happy… don’t worry about me. Alright – never

Mom: (Interrupts) Sure, sure whatever! That’s good, that what you kids do these days!?... I wouldn’t know!
Kid: Yeah, we also went over to the fifth graders, they’re so cool!
Mom: One day you’ll be a fifth grader too, then you’ll be outta my hair for good, hopefully. Just go do your homework or something, get out-of my way! I have to make you dinner, don’t I?
Kid: fine... (Skips of stage.)
Mom: I don’t know what we’re gonna do with all these bills! There’s not enough money to pay for them all! If they cut off the electricity, then we won’t be able to watch Survivor! And, it’s not like Katy is gonna be able to go to college, anyway. Otherwise, who’s gonna keep house for me? (Pause) I’d like to see Katy try and cook for the rest of us…but ha she can’t take that kind of responsibility. She’s just…a spoiled little baby, who has to have everything done for HER! (Pause) Ha…but I’m smart enough to go get a microwave meal…so I don’t have to do much! (Yells up the ‘stairs’) Food’s ready so get your scrawny, little butt down here! I’m not gonna wait for you much longer!
Kid: Coming!
Mom: (Pause) what’s bloody taking so long!?
Kid: What happened to the TV?
Mom: What the hell did you do?
Kid: Nothing, I didn’t do anything! I just turned it off.
Mom: It wasn’t supposed to be on in the first place! Only I can touch the TV! He bought it for ME! (Walks offstage to see the TV)
Mom: (off stage) Oh my god! You blew up the TV! (On stage) Your father and I bought one thing for ourselves, and you ruined it! You’re so useless; I don’t know why your father brought you into this family! That was rather stupid of him bringing an immature child into our sophisticated relationship! You and that father of yours don’t do anything right! That bloody idiot didn’t even buy me anything for Valentine’s Day! (Phone rings) Speak of the devil… (sweetly) Hello! (Leaves stage)
Kid: I did do my homework…I don’t know what she’s talking about! Useless...? I’m not useless! Well, at least…I don’t think so…I always do my homework! And I help her with the dishes, and I do my chores and everything! I didn’t mean to ruin the T.V, it just sort of happened. She can’t really think that my dad is stupid! He’s a successful salesman! He told me so! And you can’t be a salesman if you’re stupid. Can you?! Well, SHE’S the only one that’s stupid in THIS house! Dad had lots of girlfriends before this one…but she’s by far the worst, and stupidest! She gave me peanut butter for lunch today, again. I hate peanut butter! She should know that by now! I mean she’s been here for like 6 month already! All of my dads other friends were nice to me, and cared about me and didn’t give me peanut butter. And they all cared about my grades too… she wouldn’t care if I didn’t do my home work, but I did, I did it earlier. (Shows her homework).
(Mom comes back onstage)
Mom:
Kid: I did my homework, before I watched TV, see?
Mom: (into phone) hold on sweetie! (Shakes her head then talks with loud whisper) never mind, fine, whatever! Come with me, we’re gonna go by another TV.
Kid: So… there’s nothing wrong?
Mom: Of course something’s wrong, you ruined the bloody TV! (Sarcastically)But…noooooo, you’re just a stupid little kid, who never does anything wrong, eh? Well, I need a TV so I’m gonna buy me a new one!
Kid: uh, okay Ms…..
Mom: It’s Ms. Kate, and it will be Mrs. Once your father brings out that shiny diamond ring!
Mom: (mom sweetly, talks to dad on cell phone) I know we can’t afford it… (Pause) but, I have to! Without out Survivor, I won’t survive! (Pauses…lets dad talk)…It’s okay, don’t worry, I’ll by a small one, just big enough to see the hot host!
Kid: I’m hot; can I have an ice cream Ms…..?
Mom: No! Can’t you see I’m on the phone? (Sighs, sweet talking to dad) Your lovely little daughter is costing us too much! (Pause) That little midget is taking up too much room, too much space, and too much money! (Pause) … No, I can’t do that; I can’t get a job…that’s absurd!
Kid: is that daddy? Can I talk to him?!
Mom: (To kid) NO, he’s talking to me! (To dad) You’ve got that little midget that I’ve got to watch…! (Stare at kid during pause) We’d both be better off without her! (Pause) We need to talk when you get home! (Hangs up).
Mom: (To Katy) Here’s a lollipop; it should keep you quiet for a while! I’m just gonna go get a new TV, so just wait right here in the park, keep yourself busy and I’ll be right back.
Kid: okay Ms. Kate, I’ll stay right here playing.
Mom: (Pats Katy on the head) Yeah, just don’t bother anyone; they don’t need your edginess! (Mom goes offstage)
(Blackout)
Kid: (sits down, crosses her legs and puts her head on the floor)... (Wakes up)…dad? Daddy? Daddy? DAD, where are you!? Dad? It’s dark out here! Daddy?! I’m cold! Daddy! Where are you!? Daddy...? Daddy? (Stands up and starts looking around, and wanders offstage).
A door knocking
Mom: Come in.
Kid: Ms…you locked the door again!
Mom: I’ll be right there... (Walks over and opens the door)...How was your day?
