I must say that our preformance was nothing short of a miracle and amazing concentration. The preformance seemed to the audience that we had been practicing with full dedication but in the fact we had never really done any proper practicing of the play, all together we ran through the entire child soldier's scene as a practice twice with the child soldier's group but i think that because we were put under pressure we really pulled through. this happened many times with our class.
I especially liked the fact that the sound scape worked very well because me along with several other people thought that the people in the audience would not understand the intentions of the sounds, but to my surprise that is what they seemed to like the most.
The child soldier's group worked well in the preformance but the production and rehearsal was dreadful, it was plagued with problems from important figures in productions being unable to come to meetings along with very little enthusiasm but after practicing as a class as a whole we seemed to completely forget everything and stopped laughing and did it surprisingly well.
I think the script was especially good, i loved the fact that it included all sorts of topics that we had discussed to include, but some things were cut out due to shortage of time as well not having the props to convey it to make the audience understand what was going on, one such thing was music playing during the drug scene to symbolize his hullucinations as well a 3 scenes that were cut out completely even though it was in the final script one was when the UN and NATO forces agreed to do something about the growing problem with child soldiers and another scene skipped was when the child soldiers are killing an entire village and the horror that the main character is suppose to convey as he is shooting innocent people and sad horrific music was suppose to play along with this. another scene that was skipped was the one on one confrontation between the general and the main character with him being premoted to captain of the other child soldiers.
Drama was something i enjoyed this term and something that i will miss since i will never do it again because i had chosen Visual Art for m4 and m5 but if there is no more room in Visual Art i had chosen Drama to do because that is my second favorite Arts class. one thing that i especially enjoy about drama is the freedom. we have the ability to make anything with the topic given and have freedom get to a final piece in whatever way we need to which was great because that let us experiment with different things and discuss and act what would work better and worse. Something that i especially helped with overall confidence in any situation is the monologue preformance that made us preform in front of an audience with no one else on stage and with just us preforming, it also helped me with improvisational skills because my ENTIRE monologue was improvised but i think it turned out very well with no hitches. Overall i would be glad to be able to do drama next year but sadly i can not.
